1. What did you like about the wikispace project ?

One thing that I did like about the wikispace project is that the information that was uploaded could be accessed and modified by the groups members only. In comparison to the projects passed were other groups members could access your information and claim it for themselves.

2. What did you not like about the wikispace project ?

One thing that i did not like about the wikispace project is that sometimes the wiki servers were down which meant that groups could not access and modify their projects content.

3. What did you find hard about working in groups ?

The one thing i found hard about working in groups for this project and in general was that the groups never have 4 members out of 4 who are at the same grade average. So for me being an advanced student it drags me down because i have to spend time helping others when i should be learning by myself.

4. How did the wikispace keep everyone in your team accountable ?

The wikispace kept everyone in the group accountable because it provides a feature which enables the teacher to see who completed each page. This  therefore keeps the group members who are not doing in work in trouble.

5. How could you improve your presentation ?

I could improve my presentation skills by preparing my speech earlier than I did for this project. This would allow me to remember it off by hard which negates the use of palm cards.

Investigate how Jocelyn Bell Burnell discovered pulsars in 1967. Write a short account of this event. (5 lines)

Jocelyn Bell first discovered the first pulsar only by chance by herself and her study partner Anthony Hewish. One day when they both were studying galaxies Jocelyn Bell noticed that small pulses of radiation where appearing from an area that they were viewing at. For a short time scientists thought they might be coming from an extra-terrestrial civilisation. In fact the source of these pulses were initially referred to as LGM1, Little Green Man 1.

You are to write a journal outlining why NASA would undertake such an experiment.

NASA undertook this mission to try to find if Mars can support human life in the years to come when earth eventually comes to a point were it can’t support human life anymore.

-          What do you think the Phoenix will find?

I think that the Pheonix will find some suitable areas where human life can be sustained but otherwise I don’t think that it will find any information that will provide a suitable conclusion on whether Mars can support life on Mars. Eventually after about 5 or 6 more missions like Pheonix will start to draw suitable conclusion to the question of humans living their lives on Mars.

-          Do you think as a planet we should be researching other planets? Why/ why not?

I think we should be researching other planets. This is because of the fact that eventually the earth will get to a point where the main resources that are essential for human survival will run out i.e land space and water. When this happens scientists need to have a plan in place which can be put into place and one main objective on that plan will need to include a new place for the human race to exist. So that’s why scientists are now researching other possible planets that can sustain human life.

-          Any other comments.

What contribution did the following scientists make towards the big bang theory?

-          Walter Adams.

Walter Adams contribution to the big bang theory was that he discovered the first white dwarf star Sirius B.

-          Ralph Alpher.

Ralph Alpher’s contribution to the big bang theory was that he discovered the mathematical formula that supports the big bang theorys findings. http://www.light-science.com/alpher.html

-          Robert Dicke.

Robert Dicke’s contribution to the big bang thoery was that he made the calculations that were relative to the cooling off period which occured after the intial big bang explosion had occured.

-          What was Hubble’s involvement in space research?

Hubble was involved in space research because he was a qualified astronomer. He created and assisted in many different space discoveries such as redshift, the big bang theory,Hubbles law and Hubble sequence.

-          What does the telescope do?

The Hubble space telescope is a large based space observatory which has revoloutionised space research by proving extermely clear views of the Universe which are used for scientific research.

-          Where can the telescope be found?

The telescope can be found orbiting in space. Sometimes if it orbits the Earth closely enough it can be seen with the naked eye.

-          What is Hubble’s law?

Hubbles law state that the further the plants are from earth the faster they are receedding from Earth.
